How to identify and prevent care partner burnout (November 25, 2025)

Recorded On: 11/25/2025

Presented by: Delia Emelyanov

Clinicians work with clients, families, and care partners, especially in the community. A lot of focus is on the client (rightfully so), but often we are not as well versed on assessing the care partners, especially the informal care partners. As occupational therapy professionals, we ourselves are givers of care, professionally, and we may also be prone to burnout in our own private and professional lives (Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care, 2024). By knowing potential signs or physical manifestations of burnout, this can help us tailor our approach for maximum impact.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Define burnout and recognize the initial signs in another person or themselves.
  2. Apply strategies to prevent burnout the same day of the presentation.
  3. Use therapeutic use of self with clients re: burnout.
