Occupational Therapy Practitioners (OTPs) address the needs of seriously ill individuals across settings. The holistic and client centered approach of OT is well aligned with the palliative care philosophy and integrating rehabilitation services and palliative care is best practice in the provision of high quality healthcare services (WHO, 2023). Occupational therapy intervention enables participation in meaningful activities, supports individuals to decline with dignity and autonomy and supports the physical and psychosocial needs of seriously ill individuals and their families. This webinar will discuss the palliative care continuum, the role of OT in at end of life, interprofessional collaboration in palliative rehabilitation and OT interventions at end of life
After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role of OT at end of life
- Recall 3 intervention strategies in the care of seriously ill individuals
- Identify 2 collaboration techniques towards interprofessional collaborative practice in palliative rehabilitation
